Make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation

Given the requirement to enhance sustainability-focused corporate management, fulfilling corporate social responsibility from a global perspective has become an increasingly important issue. The Fujitsu Platform Business promotes its Sustainability activities based on the Fujitsu Way. Fujitsu takes care to operate responsibly at every stage of the product’s lifecycle.

The building blocks

As a global organisation, we are incredibly diligent of the environment during our product design, manufacture, distribution, and beyond. The building blocks of our product sustainability strategy are:

Responsible product design

Fsas Technologies follows a clearly defined sustainability approach in product design. The objective is to significantly reduce the use of virgin plastics and instead increase the use of recycled or biodegradable materials.

In addition, standardized full-size connectors help eliminate the need for extra plastic adapters. This improves compatibility, simplifies usability, and reduces material consumption across the entire product lifecycle. With this product design, Fsas Technologies combines modern technology with responsible resource usage — delivering solutions that are sustainably convincing.

Limitation of harmful substances

Fsas Technologies takes the responsibility of protecting people and planet from hazardous substances very seriously. We were one of the earliest companies to eliminate ozone-depleting substances such as chloro-fluorocarbons from our supply chain. We have also installed activated carbon absorption treatment equipment at our manufacturing facilities to reduce our atmospheric emissions of organic solvent vapours.

Ethical supply chain and human rights

Supply chain transparency is a high priority topic in the IT industry. We externally publish our conflict minerals policy, which details the process we take to eradicate harmful behaviour in our supply chain, and the Responsible Minerals Report for Server Products including the Due Diligence process that explains how Fujitsu is managing, identifying, and mitigating risks in its supply chain and how the smelters and refineries are audited by independent third parties.

A transparent supply chain is a core priority for Fsas Technologies. Responsible sourcing promotes diversity and consistently takes human rights as well as environmental, health, and safety aspects into account. Further details about our supply chain policy are available on the global Fujitsu website.

Our Corporate Emissions

As part of the Fujitsu Group, Fsas adheres to the Fujitsu Group Environmental Vision. We are committed to achieving net-zero emissions for our own locations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030 and across our value chain (Scope 3) by 2040 at the latest.
We publish our environmental performance metrics annually in the Fujitsu Sustainability Data Book.

Eco friendly packaging

Fsas Technologies follows a holistic sustainability approach in packaging. For shipping our PRIMERGY server systems and components, we develop solutions that minimize environmental impact across the entire supply chain. We deliberately use recyclable, bio-based, and resource-efficient materials to significantly reduce raw material consumption and CO₂ emissions. Each package is designed to achieve an optimal balance between protection and material usage — without unnecessary resource consumption.

Separate packaging is only used when strictly required due to size, weight, or technical specifications of specific configurations. Even in these cases, we apply sustainable packaging concepts that combine high stability with the lowest possible environmental footprint. This includes optimized carton grades, reduced cushioning elements, and designs focused on maximum reusability and recyclability.

Through these measures, Fsas Technologies actively contributes to conserving natural resources, reducing waste generation, and lowering climate-relevant emissions — while ensuring reliable protection of our products during transport.

Environmental and Energy Management

As a sustainability-focused company, we continuously strive to reduce our environmental impact. Most of our European locations are therefore certified not only according to ISO 9001 (Quality Management) but also ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).
You can find our related Europe Environmental Master Policy here.

In Germany, selected locations are additionally certified according to ISO 50001 (Energy Management).
The implementation plan pursuant to Section 9 of the Energy Efficiency Act will be available here shortly.

Circular economy, waste and recycling

Fsas Technologies is committed to developing products that are durable, easy to maintain, and responsibly recyclable. Intelligent design principles with easily accessible service areas actively extend the lifespan of our devices. At the same time, we ensure spare parts availability for many years — a key contribution to conserving resources and preventing unnecessary electronic waste.

Clear material labeling and certified take-back and recycling programs ensure that valuable raw materials are returned to the circular economy. In line with the European WEEE Directive, this supports greater transparency, improved recycling quality, and measurable CO₂ reduction.

The result: products that are not only powerful but create real sustainability value — from development to recovery.

Industry certification and eco labels

To support our customers in making sustainable procurement decisions, we ensure that our products carry recognized environmental certifications such as EPEAT (Gold, Climate+). This ensures that we have been independently assessed and verified in regards to energy performance, postconsumer materials, packaging, human rights, corporate ESG performance, and more.

Message from the CEO

In response to the challenges posed by climate change, last year signalled a shift within the global community toward carbon neutrality by 2050. In addition to national and local governments, many companies also set targets for emission reductions. The COVID-19 pandemic triggered the uptake of digitalization at a much faster pace than predicted, which led to significant changes for business and in the daily lifestyles and attitudes of people.…
